i didn’t think that this would be a good movie, but i was pleasantly surprised. this is a great movie, for both kids and adults, with a great message and characters.

I might be the only Ultra fan who didn't like this movie. You have to go into this knowing it's a very "kids" type movie. It felt exactly like a modern Disney movie.

Hmmmm, havent seen it yet cause of how goofy the trailer was, but it seems like the directors are actually invested in the Ultra franchise, guess I'll give it a shot

Gotta love how Netflix respects Ultraman more than Godzilla. 😂 Not that I have a problem with that. Ultraman anime and Rising are both fantastic on Netflix. Wish the anime continued with giant Ultraman though. 😢

Due to me being an idiot, I only really saw 2 references when I watched the movie lol 1st was Emi doing Showa Godzilla’s little dance 2nd was Emi using Mothra sounds for a few seconds when she hatched out of the cocoon

Having been an Ultraman geek since I was born in Japan, I watched the movie with half-expected to see how much of a work of art he had created. The first thing that surprised me was the depth of his knowledge of Japan. The cityscapes, of course, but also the Yomiuri Giants and the Hanshin Tigers, whose name is mentioned but still weak... I enjoyed it as an Ultraman fan, a Japanese fan, and a baseball fan. I'm looking forward to the sequel, and I hope it will help Ultraman spread more in America and around the world.

Alright, how's this one: Ultraman... uh, 'Ken', _probably_ has blue eyes instead of the standard yellow as a callback to the US-made Ultraman Powered? Which lacked the "tear duct" eyeholes as well. That his name is Sato Kenji is amusing to me, because that's a _painfully_ old-fashioned name now that we're in Reiwa. "Agent Sato Kenji" wouldn't be out of place at all as a character name in the Showa shows, and also it looks like both names are in katakana - this was something only Ultraman and Ultra Seven did for its characters until the Heisei shows.

Before there was that doktor skipper video, we had this. And yeah, even after 5 years since this was posted, it's still pretty bad.

Rising is not the first reimagining of Man-San to feature blue eyes, being preceded by Ultraman Powered in 1995's "Ultraman: The Ultimate Hero" (known as "Ultraman Powered in Japan"). * The first fight against Neronga takes place mainly on a single street, possibly being a reference to Powered's first fight (which took place in a similar location). * The show used to calm down Emi in the scene where she does the Godzilla dance is an actual show produced by Tsubaraya, "Kaiju Step Wandaba". * The pod in which Ken's father rests after being injured is designed to resemble the Beta Capule (Man-San's transformation device). * Several monsters make cameo appearances in advertisements seen in the background, including Guesra and Metron. * Emi's climbing of Tokyo Tower references the original 1961 Mothra movie, where Mothra uses it as a brace for building her cocoon. * Mecha Gigantron is based on Mecha King Ghidorah (being a draconic-style kaiju augmented with cybernetics) and Kiryu Mechagodzilla (being able to "break free" of their cybernetics' control somewhat) * The introduction of Mecha Gigantron (being cloaked in shadow while standing in a sunset ocean) references the introduction of Bardiel in Neon Genesis Evangelion. * Ultradad's "facial hair" is based on that of Ultraman King's.

In the scene where the mecha gigantron appears in the distance it kinda looks like destroyah from Godzilla vs destroyah.

動画では触れられてないけど、Risingの青い目はアメリカで制作されたウルトラマンパワード(1995)が元ネタだと思う It's not mentioned in the video, but I think Rising's blue eyes are based on "Ultraman: The Ultimate Hero ( = Ultraman Powered) " (1995) , which was produced in America.

Fun Fact: In the series Ben 10: Alien Force and Ben 10: Ultimate Alien (I think that's the title,) the alien "Way Big's" design and abilities was inspired by Ultraman.

One reference you missed is that when kenji father takes out a plush for emi the plush was Ollie from lost Ollie which is a Netflix series

I think you might have missed one: In the final beam struggle , Ultraman's hand is hurt so when he tries to fire the beam , he and Ultradad use one hand each. I think it maybe a reference to the Father-Son kamehameha in DBZ

I think “ultradad” having a mustache while in the final battle might be a reference to Scatman John, since Ultraman had a version of his song “Scatman” called “ScatUltraman”

Do you think the writers for the chronicles of darkness tabletop games were fans of kamen rider? The original story of Takeshi Hongo seems like it could be an inspiration for Deviant the Renegades,as in DTR you play as somebody who has been supernaturally augmented and is now on the run and fighting against the organization who created them,am I the only one who sees the parallels here?

Ultraman Rising was a great movie and I am a fan of Ultraman besides Godzilla, Gamera, and Super Sentai/ Power Rangers back in the day! The Toku Professor has knowledge of different Kaijus & Kaijins who appear in different shows and movies like Godzilla films, Gamera films, Super Sentai, and Kamen Rider! I find it all very interesting and funny too because his two students, Kashima-Kun and Pencil Leopard get into some shenanigans while in The Professor's class!
