Why Ultraman Tiga Was a Big Deal
Переглядів 92 тис.3 місяці тому
With Ultraman Tiga we enter the Heisei Era! Ultraman Tiga was the show that marked the proper return of the Ultra Series after its disappearance following the failure of Ultraman 80 over a decade earlier. A lot changed within that time and with that change came plenty of talented newcomers eager to put their stamp on the iconic series - among them was arguably Ultraman Tiga’s maverick: Kyota Ka...
Is Godzilla Minus One PEAK Cinema?
Переглядів 88 тис.6 місяців тому
Godzilla Minus One, the latest Japanese Godzilla film, recently hit theaters and it has made quite the impression. People from all walks of life are not only calling it one of the best Godzilla films ever... but also one of the best films of the year. The latter sentiment is an insanely interesting reaction for a Godzilla film in the same year that saw films from cinematic legends like Christop...

The Success of Shin Ultraman and What It Means for Tokusatsu

Here's a brief look at the reception of Shinji Higuchi's Shin Ultraman and what it might mean going forward for the "Shin" series and tokusatsu. Special thanks to ehoba (@htGOIW) for translations! Give them a follow on Twitter. #Ultraman #ShinUltraman
Not sure if anyone did catch this, but the KDF members did actually have the same, if not, similar uniforms as those in Ultraman Mebius
i didn’t think that this would be a good movie, but i was pleasantly surprised. this is a great movie, for both kids and adults, with a great message and characters.
wtf was the starting clip
5:04 Rodan?? SCP 682!?!?
I might be the only Ultra fan who didn't like this movie. You have to go into this knowing it's a very "kids" type movie. It felt exactly like a modern Disney movie.
my favorite easter egg is a reference to ultra man because the main protagonist turns into ultra man
Hmmmm, havent seen it yet cause of how goofy the trailer was, but it seems like the directors are actually invested in the Ultra franchise, guess I'll give it a shot
Gotta love how Netflix respects Ultraman more than Godzilla. 😂 Not that I have a problem with that. Ultraman anime and Rising are both fantastic on Netflix. Wish the anime continued with giant Ultraman though. 😢
I just wish Kenji wasn't such a dweeb.
The KDF uniform kinda looks familiar to the G.U.Y.S. uniform from Ultraman Mebius. (Which is my fav Ultraman.)
u missed one, the whole show revolves around baseball and which ultraman revolves around baseball, DYNAAAAA
dam you missed the power rangers reference to the power rangers dino thunder magazord
It's time for Ultraman to join the MonsterVerse.
There’s a Precure reference in here too! When the interview w/ the grandma in akhibara, you see it on a poster in the bg. A rly cute nod to it as it is the sister series of sentai/Kamen rider.
True btw heisei movies aren't perfect either i watched them all and i still feel empty after finishing watching it
Also i never liked heisei godzilla either
Due to me being an idiot, I only really saw 2 references when I watched the movie lol 1st was Emi doing Showa Godzilla’s little dance 2nd was Emi using Mothra sounds for a few seconds when she hatched out of the cocoon
Having been an Ultraman geek since I was born in Japan, I watched the movie with half-expected to see how much of a work of art he had created. The first thing that surprised me was the depth of his knowledge of Japan. The cityscapes, of course, but also the Yomiuri Giants and the Hanshin Tigers, whose name is mentioned but still weak... I enjoyed it as an Ultraman fan, a Japanese fan, and a baseball fan. I'm looking forward to the sequel, and I hope it will help Ultraman spread more in America and around the world.
one of my friends said that there was a golden volture toy in the background idk where
For me it is the power rangers dino thunder magazords toys!
The eyes on the helmet are definitely not aligned with the actors' actual eyes, more their foreheads, right? I can't stop thinking about this whenever I look at the riders
kamen rider black is a hand to hand based combat anime, unlike the new riders that focuses on fire power.
I didn't watch any Ultraman films, but when I watched this movie, it gave me nostalgic feelings, love the movie....
I Already watched it I don’t need to see the Spoiler
A for effort, and big fuck No to Netflix
You forget about Ultraman the next, transfrom not use a device
Alright, how's this one: Ultraman... uh, 'Ken', _probably_ has blue eyes instead of the standard yellow as a callback to the US-made Ultraman Powered? Which lacked the "tear duct" eyeholes as well. That his name is Sato Kenji is amusing to me, because that's a _painfully_ old-fashioned name now that we're in Reiwa. "Agent Sato Kenji" wouldn't be out of place at all as a character name in the Showa shows, and also it looks like both names are in katakana - this was something only Ultraman and Ultra Seven did for its characters until the Heisei shows.
Before there was that doktor skipper video, we had this. And yeah, even after 5 years since this was posted, it's still pretty bad.
2:47 Yeah except for the fact ken didn't GET HIS ASS CONSTANTLY KICKED AS PART OF TRAINING 💀
A few more: * Ultraman Rising's design prevalently features bright blue eyes. Rising is not the first reimagining of Man-San to feature blue eyes, being preceded by Ultraman Powered in 1995's "Ultraman: The Ultimate Hero" (known as "Ultraman Powered in Japan"). * The first fight against Neronga takes place mainly on a single street, possibly being a reference to Powered's first fight (which took place in a similar location). * The show used to calm down Emi in the scene where she does the Godzilla dance is an actual show produced by Tsubaraya, "Kaiju Step Wandaba". * The pod in which Ken's father rests after being injured is designed to resemble the Beta Capule (Man-San's transformation device). * Several monsters make cameo appearances in advertisements seen in the background, including Guesra and Metron. * Emi's climbing of Tokyo Tower references the original 1961 Mothra movie, where Mothra uses it as a brace for building her cocoon. * Mecha Gigantron is based on Mecha King Ghidorah (being a draconic-style kaiju augmented with cybernetics) and Kiryu Mechagodzilla (being able to "break free" of their cybernetics' control somewhat) * The introduction of Mecha Gigantron (being cloaked in shadow while standing in a sunset ocean) references the introduction of Bardiel in Neon Genesis Evangelion. * Ultradad's "facial hair" is based on that of Ultraman King's.
In the scene where the mecha gigantron appears in the distance it kinda looks like destroyah from Godzilla vs destroyah.
I was today years old when I found out that the Godzilla Victory Dance was a reference to another property. Thanks Blu!
Prof sato's red glasses also reminds me of Dan's
That’s intentional, the director confirmed it. The director also confirmed that he’s alien, similar to Dan. Which is why Prof. Sato says “She taught me how to be human”. That was alluding to the fact that he’s an alien with a human disguise, similar to Dan!
👌👌🌟 0:13
動画では触れられてないけど、Risingの青い目はアメリカで制作されたウルトラマンパワード(1995)が元ネタだと思う It's not mentioned in the video, but I think Rising's blue eyes are based on "Ultraman: The Ultimate Hero ( = Ultraman Powered) " (1995) , which was produced in America.
Fun Fact: In the series Ben 10: Alien Force and Ben 10: Ultimate Alien (I think that's the title,) the alien "Way Big's" design and abilities was inspired by Ultraman.
i thought this movie is stupid but i love it
I would like to see another that's more for adults or make an English dub version of Shin Ultraman
There is already an English Dub of Shin Ultraman.
@@Leech-3 I can't buy it
One reference you missed is that when kenji father takes out a plush for emi the plush was Ollie from lost Ollie which is a Netflix series
I think you might have missed one: In the final beam struggle , Ultraman's hand is hurt so when he tries to fire the beam , he and Ultradad use one hand each. I think it maybe a reference to the Father-Son kamehameha in DBZ
HELL YEAH
I think “ultradad” having a mustache while in the final battle might be a reference to Scatman John, since Ultraman had a version of his song “Scatman” called “ScatUltraman”
Do you think the writers for the chronicles of darkness tabletop games were fans of kamen rider? The original story of Takeshi Hongo seems like it could be an inspiration for Deviant the Renegades,as in DTR you play as somebody who has been supernaturally augmented and is now on the run and fighting against the organization who created them,am I the only one who sees the parallels here?
Just watched holy crap it’s amazing.
I like the new ultraman rising movie because kenji doesn’t need a device like other ultraman actors.
3:12 that ta dun ta dahh was an obvious ester egg
Ultraman Rising was a great movie and I am a fan of Ultraman besides Godzilla, Gamera, and Super Sentai/ Power Rangers back in the day! The Toku Professor has knowledge of different Kaijus & Kaijins who appear in different shows and movies like Godzilla films, Gamera films, Super Sentai, and Kamen Rider! I find it all very interesting and funny too because his two students, Kashima-Kun and Pencil Leopard get into some shenanigans while in The Professor's class!
Shin Hayata ? Really ?
There is an Easter egg that has the Megazord from Power rangers Dino thunder as a toy
Here are a couple of nods I found: -If you listen to the music at the beginning where Ultraman is introduced, you can hear a couple of notes from Ultraman The Next. -At one point Ken jokes that he is "Ultraman The Ultimate Babysitter", a reference to Ultraman: The Ultimate Hero.
